It’s been a hectic month and we are only now just getting sorted for Christmas. Have escaped to the cottage this weekend to relax whilst writing Christmas cards, putting up a Christmas tree and recharging our batteries ahead of the next few weeks’ hectic round of Christmas concerts and Carol Services.
We’ve had our first frosts of winter and so the plan for today includes harvesting our first parsnips. Hopefully they’ll have been as successful as the carrots were and we can have some with our roast beef dinner today. Thinking of Christmas, we may try growing some brussels sprouts next year.
Planning to have some more time here over the next few weeks and have a few bracing walks along the coast to balance the inevitable excesses of Christmas! We are also looking forward to welcoming our first guests to see in the New Year at Owl Cottage.
The first parsnip – it’s a monster!

The tree is up and we’re all feeling very Christmassy.
